Classical dancing meets juggling in this beautiful performance by Sean Gandini's famous London company. Aesthetic, modern and soothing.
Four jugglers (balls, clubs, rings) and four dancers. 4x4 Ephemeral Architectures opens up uncharted territory between ballet and the art of juggling: At the crossroads of these two disciplines emerges this work, a true celebration of the present moment in a universe that is both elegant and mathematical. The eight artists together create an unprecedented alchemy. The purity of the ballet's movements marries the perfect lines drawn by the jugglers, the elevation of the pointe dancers meets the flight of balls and clubs. It is a delicate and fragile marriage that is being written before our eyes.
In this oddly titled show, created by one of the most renowned juggling companies of the moment, gestures and bodies construct an architecture of the imaginary in space. The movements of the dancers and jugglers respond to the fine and inventive music of Nimrod Borenstein. And in the shadow of the pins and rings, a body fragment appears, the gesture is repeated, redoubled, shared. A mirroring of bodies, objects and notes of extreme virtuosity and rarely equaled poetry.
