Mountain guide office in Argentière
The Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix is taking action to tackle climate change. Our aim is to become carbon neutral by 2025 by reducing our emissions as much as possible. To limit our direct emissions (operations & activities): -No more holidays outside Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Valais and Val d'Aoste and no activities more than 60 km from Chamonix. We are redirecting our customers to local guides outside the area. -Optimisation of baggage transport and widespread use of public transport. -Teleworking, reduction of the minibus fleet, remote working for our guides. Indirect emissions (in particular customer journeys): -Creation of a carbon calculator to measure the impact of journeys between home and Chamonix. -Stop all promotions in long-haul destinations. -Reduce before offsetting: offsetting is a last resort. From 2025, our direct emissions will be fully offset via our FOEHN environmental fund, which finances local awareness-raising and conservation initiatives.
