The main aim of the Autonomy & Safety - Level 2 course is to enable you to acquire the fundamentals of belaying in motion, which enables all members of the roped party to progress safely at the same time.
Day 1 Grande voie - Overnight in the valley
Introduction to your guide. Review and deepen the fundamentals of rock safety and climb a multi-pitch route.
Day 2 Ridge climbing - Overnight in the valley
Fundamentals of moving rock belaying: rope length, belaying, protection, belay. Examples of routes covered: Frêtes des Charmoz (2,500m), Dent de Fenestral (2,578m), Traversée des Crochues (2,837m).
Day 3 Mixed race - Overnight at Cosmiques hut
Revision and deepening of snow safety fundamentals. Fundamentals of moving belaying in snow and mixed terrain: rope length, belaying, protection, relay. Example routes: Arête à Laurence (3,613m), Pointes Lachenal (3,613m)
Day 4 Mixed route from Cosmiques hut
Fundamentals of moving belaying in snow and mixed terrain: rope length, belaying, protection, belay. Examples of routes completed: Arête nord du Petit Flambeau (3,440m), Arête des Cosmiques (3,842m), Pointes Lachenal (3,613m).
