Further information

Whatever your hike, remember to pack cereal bars, plenty of water, sunglasses, sunscreen, a small first-aid kit, and clothing appropriate to the season and weather forecast.

A magnificent hike on the Pormenaz massif, allowing you to discover all its natural and scenic riches. From the heights of Servoz, not far from Chamonix, reach the Lac de Pormenaz site along this itinerary designed for good walkers.

Straddling the Sixt-Passy and Aiguilles Rouges national nature reserves, the Pormenaz massif is home to a varied natural heritage. This itinerary invites you to discover all its diversity.
The loop begins at the Tête de la Fontaine, above the Gorges de la Diosaz (a natural area of ecological, faunistic and floristic interest) marking its boundary with the Massif des Aiguilles Rouges. The trail leads to the Pormenaz mountain pastures and then to the Chalets de Chavanne Neuve.
You'll then pass beneath the Pointe Noire de Pormenaz, the massif's highest peak at 2323 m, which you can contemplate on your walk.
Then discover Lac de Pormenaz, nestled in the hollow of this peak, in a superb landscape setting with an exceptional panorama of the Rochers des Fiz.
On your descent, you'll follow the course of the Souay torrent, past the alpine chalets of the same name, to reach the hamlet of Le Mont.
