LUDOVIC RAVANEL CONFERENCE "High mountains and mountaineers put to the test by the climate".

in Argentière
Presentation

Lecture "High mountains and mountaineers put to the test by climate" by Ludovic Ravanel, geomorphologist and CNRS research director.

Like mountaineers, we'll set off from the bottom of an Alpine valley towards the highest peaks. At each stage, we'll see how geomorphological processes and glaciers have shaped the landscape, and how global warming (two to three times faster in the Alps than elsewhere) is affecting particularly sensitive mountain environments. We'll also take the opportunity to gain a better understanding of the risks facing Alpine populations and those who frequent the high mountains.
