Science Sandwich Conference: A forest populated by wild boars continues to resist change!

in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
Presentation

Oak reproduction depends on climatic conditions and influences the demography of fruit-eating species such as wild boar. What will become of it in the context of climate change?

Masting is a reproductive strategy characteristic of many plant species, such as the oak. It is characterized by fluctuating fruit production from one year to the next, synchronized on the scale of tree populations.
tree populations. This reproduction pattern is highly responsive to climatic conditions
and is known to influence the demography and evolution of fruit-eating species such as wild boar. In this presentation, we will look at the impact of oak masting on wild boar populations, and their future in the current context of climate change.
