The ESF isn't just for Piou-Piou
Mont Blanc Ski Discovery: The Premium Off-Piste Experience
Not for those who say, “The snow’s too soft for me.” This trip—available as a one-day excursion or over three consecutive days—is designed for very skilled skiers who love deep powder and adrenaline. In small groups of 4 to 8 skiers max, guided by a professional ski instructor, we head off the groomed runs to learn how to read the terrain, master the slopes, and savor the perfect line. A freeride masterclass featuring 360° panoramic views, great advice, and thighs that’ll be on fire.
Telemark: Old School Is the New Cool
Is it a sign of total adoration and respect for the mountains that telemark skiing is practiced with bent knees and a gracefully leaning torso? Well, why not? One thing’s for sure: the discipline is technical, physical, and incredibly chic. Whether you’re just curious or already a devotee of the mother of all snow sports, ESF instructors know how to tailor the session to introduce you (or help you perfect your skills) in the art of smooth turns, a free heel, and a blissful smile. Hallelujah.
Cross-Country Night Sessions: Nordic Magic
At 6 p.m., the resort grows quieter as night falls. From the Maison Nordique in Chamonix, a group of cross-country skiers sets off. Their headlamps glow like little fireflies, lighting up the dark trails. For two hours, on a peaceful route with no technical difficulties, all you’ll hear is the glide of their skating strides on the snow and their breath in the cold. Poetic, isn’t it? Better yet: at night, cross-country skiing is magical. It takes place every Thursday from the Christmas school break through mid-February, and it’s free. Stars included.
Handiski: Skiing for Everyone
In the Valley, there are no spectators—just skiers! The ESF Chamonix makes the joy of skiing accessible to everyone, whatever their ability or preference. Whether it’s Dualski, Uniski, wheelchair skiing, or ski-karting, each piece of equipment is adjusted to the millimeter by state-certified instructors who are specially trained to guide children and adults with disabilities toward an experience that’s as safe as it is exhilarating. On the slopes, the thrills are at their peak: the snow crunches, the wind whips, and hearts race. And everyone gets to experience that unique thrill of freedom that the mountains offer—the kind that erases all differences.
