Le Brévent and La Flégère ski areas are bathed in sunshine and are great for recreational skiing on the “roof” of Europe, at the foot of the Aiguilles Rouges. From Planpraz, you can take off for a flight in a two-seater paraglider. Meanwhile, speed freaks should head for the La Chavanne slope where they can race the clock!
The next day, it’s always fun to compare your times in the slalom area at the Balme-Vallorcine ski area. Here, the slopes are gentler so ideal for every skill level, as well as snow shoe trekking and cross-country skiing. The same is true of Les Houches, on the other side of the valley, which is a popular destination for families and walkers.
Beginners and children can hone their skills at one of the low-altitude ski areas in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc Valley. Or you can swap your skis for a sled!
