Centennial of the 1st Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix 1924

Chamonix hosts the Paris 2024 Flag Tour

On Friday, February 3, 2023, the town of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc kicks off its official centennial celebration of the 100th anniversary of the 1st Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix 1924 and welcomes the Paris 2024 Flag Tour.

In anticipation of the VIII Olympiad and as a prelude to the 1924 Paris Olympics, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) desired the organization of the "International Week of Winter Sports." It took place in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc from January 25 to February 5, 1924. Due to its successful execution and the enthusiastic response from both sports enthusiasts and the general public, the event evolved into the 1st Winter Olympic Games.

Today, Chamonix-Mont-Blanc aims to celebrate the centennial of the 1st Winter Olympic Games in Chamonix 1924 with the ambition of sharing its exceptional Olympic heritage with as many people as possible while embodying a town open to the world and its developments.
