AVIOLAT EXHIBITS HIS COLLAGES AT THE REFUGE DU PLAN DE L'AIGUILLE - Mountain trades and activities FROM JUNE 5 TO OCTOBER 6 2024

Jean-Marc Aviolat, "the illustrator of stories that don't yet exist
exhibits his collages at the Refuge du Plan de l'Aiguille.
A passionate self-taught artist, he has always enjoyed drawing, assembling and sculpting.
An avid sportsman and nature lover, he was for many years in charge of trail maintenance for the Communauté de Communes de la Vallée de Chamonix-Mont- Blanc.
Now retired for 10 years, he puts his new life to good use by creating some particularly original hand collages.
Never short of ideas, this imaginative creator expresses his feelings through his creations. His fantasy-inspired, slightly surreal world evokes an offbeat, poetic reality, often tinged with humor.
He meticulously cuts out pieces of paper and assembles them with great dexterity.
To compose his paintings, he uses photocopies of personal photographs (sky, glacier, cloud, rock, pylons, building...) and integrates small characters found in engravings from the late 19th - early 20th centuries.
Jean-Marc Aviolat has already taken part in several exhibitions in Switzerland, Brittany and Blois, but never before in his native valley.
At the Plan de l'Aiguille, visitors will be able to discover some thirty collages on the theme of mountain-related professions and activities: from the cabinier to the hiker, via the "Monchu" on the Mer de Glace, the refuge keeper and the geomorphologist.
