Rencontres Montagnes et Sciences - Année de préservation des glaciers
As part of the Year of Glacier Preservation, the Community of Communes invites you to the screening of scientific adventure films on the mountains and glaciers.
On the program:
• “The secrets of Mount Olympus” (52’). First screening at a festival. Why was Mount Olympus considered the residence of the gods? An expedition sets out in search of precious clues that will lead them to an ice cave that has never been explored.
• “Alaska, the ground is giving way” (9’). In Alaska, the mountain slopes are weakened by the degradation of the permafrost. Scientists are trying to understand what is going on underground.
• “The ice builders” (15’). In the Himalayas, the inhabitants of Ladakh are building artificial glaciers to avoid running out of water in the spring and to help recharge the water tables.
The order of the films may vary during the screening. Each film will be followed by interventions by scientists: Ludovic Ravanel, Meven Philippe and Luc Moreau.
Free event.
