The Chamonix Valley has two sites ideally suited to safe discovery: La Crémerie in Argentière and Cascade de Bérard in Vallorcine. Thanks to our partner Grivel, all technical equipment is provided, with the exception of boots: ice axes, crampons, helmet and harness.

As soon as the first cold weather arrives, enjoy ice climbing in Chamonix. Learn how to use crampons and ice axes, and discover a magical crystalline universe. This activity requires no previous mountaineering or rock-climbing experience. The rapid approach (20') allows easy access to the sites.

The Bérard icefall site is entirely artificial. It was developed by Louis Laurent, a member of the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix, with the help of a collective. They set up a system of heated pipes to provide a reliable supply of water. Every evening, the sprinklers are turned on so that the ice can form. Only one parameter remains uncontrollable: the temperature! Fortunately, thanks to its inertia, once formed, the ice on the Bérard site can withstand periods of thaw to a certain extent.
