ice climbing is often perceived as a very physical activity, in a word, inaccessible. Try it out with our guides, and you'll see that this is far from the case. You'll soon discover that finesse and intuition are the watchwords of this activity! The Chamonix Valley has two sites ideally suited to safe discovery: La Crémerie in Argentière and Cascade de Bérard in Vallorcine. Thanks to our partner Grivel, all technical equipment is provided, with the exception of boots: ice axes, crampons, helmet and harness.

As soon as the first cold weather arrives, enjoy ice climbing in Chamonix. Learn how to use crampons and ice axes, and discover a magical crystalline universe. This activity requires no previous mountaineering or rock-climbing experience. The rapid approach (20') allows easy access to the sites.

The Bérard icefall site is entirely artificial. It was developed by Louis Laurent, a member of the Compagnie des Guides de Chamonix, with the help of a collective. They set up a system of heated pipes to provide a reliable supply of water. Every evening, the sprinklers are turned on so that the ice can form. Only one parameter remains uncontrollable: the temperature! Fortunately, thanks to its inertia, once formed, the ice on the Bérard site can withstand periods of thaw to a certain extent.

For those wishing to deepen their experience, we also offer a two-day ice climbing course.
