Conference: Sociology between biodiversity and humanity: which side to choose?
Stéphane La Branche is a sociologist interested in other disciplines, with a strong ecological bent. He is interested in the following question: what are the drivers of change and non-change to move towards transition?
In the right-hand corner: sociology and human interactions.
In the left-hand corner: biodiversity, its animals and their ecosystems.
The encounter between the two raises challenges both in the real world and for the disciplines involved. Between a fight to the death (with humans as the losers) and new forms of cooperation, even symbiosis, what role can a new sociology play that is not afraid of animals and ecosystems? What might an eco-centric sociology look like, using its classic methods? What are the potential real-life effects for humans and non-humans?
